Overview

Fazlo tells you what to lift and shows where you stand — a training program, set-by-set logging, calorie and macro targets and weekly measurements, all built around the phase you are in.

The problem

Training, food and progress live in three different places.

A workout log does not know you are cutting. A calorie counter does not know you added weight to the bar. A spreadsheet knows everything — until the week you stop updating it.

Fazlo started as a single-file prototype for one lean bulk, built to answer the question that matters every week — is this working?

Our approach

One plan, built around a phase.

Pick a phase and Fazlo builds around it — a training program from five templates, a calorie target from the Mifflin-St Jeor estimate or your own measured maintenance, a macro split, and a weekly target for the scale and the tape.

Every number shows where it came from, so you can trust it, or change it.

Product experience

A walk through Fazlo.

  1. 01 — Today

    Today’s session, already on screen.

The program tab opens on today — exercises, sets × reps, reps in reserve and the muscles worked, with your latest progress right above.

  2. 02 — Log

A matching set is one tick.

Your last session pre-fills every set. Hit the top of the range and Fazlo suggests the next weight — double progression, worked out for you.

A workout in progress, with last time’s sets for each exercise, a suggestion to add 2.5 kg, and pre-filled sets to tick off.

  3. 03 — Eat

    Calories that know your phase.

A daily target from your stats and phase, a macro split with the reasoning next to each number, and the settings that produced it on the same screen.

Nutrition plan for a lean bulk at 3,061 kcal a day, with protein, carbohydrate and fat targets and the reason for each.

  4. 04 — Measure

    Target versus actual.

Weekly weight, waist, arm and shoulders against the projection for your phase. Gaining faster than planned? You will see it here first.

  5. 05 — Plan

A calendar that keeps up with you.

Weekly plans or cycles such as two on, one off. See what is done, open, planned or missed — and fix the past when you logged something wrong.

A month calendar with done, open, planned and missed days, and today’s planned Lower B session.

Features

What is inside.

  • Set-by-set logging

Weight and reps per set, live volume, bulk weight changes and a full session history.

  • Five program templates

Upper/Lower, Push/Pull/Legs over five or six days, Full Body — or start from a blank page.

  • Equipment-aware catalogue

104 exercises with primary and secondary muscles, filtered by the equipment you have.

  • Calories & macros

A Mifflin-St Jeor estimate or your measured maintenance, with presets for the macro split.

  • Weekly measurements

Weight, waist, arm and shoulders against the target line for your phase.

  • Import, export & AI prompt

Take your program out as text or paste one in. Fazlo writes the prompt for an AI to draft a program — no API key needed.

  • Share by link

A program travels inside the link itself. No server, no public database.

  • Account optional

Without an account, everything stays on the device. Sign in to back up and sync across devices.

Behind the build

Early testers said the first version looked like every other app. So it got a voice.

The redesign went the other way from tidy and generic: white paper and black ink, condensed poster type, square corners and hard shadows that slide instead of blur.

Colour has one job. Red appears only for deletes, errors and warnings, so when it shows up, you notice. Hierarchy comes from weight and tone — black, grey, light grey — rather than from a palette.

The calculations live apart from the screens. Calories, projections, progression, unit conversion and dates are plain, tested functions, and they return data, not sentences — which is what lets the same app speak seven languages.

Technology

How it is built.

React Native + Expo
One codebase for iPhone, Android and the web.
Expo Router
File-based routes shared by all three platforms.
TypeScript
Calories, projections and progression as pure, tested functions.
Zustand
Local-first state, persisted on the device.
react-native-svg
Hand-drawn charts that render the same everywhere.
Firebase
Optional account, cloud sync and web hosting.
HealthKit
Reads weight and nutrition entries on iPhone.
EAS + GitHub Actions
Every change on main ships to the web; store builds go through EAS.

Milestones

  1. The web app goes live.

  2. Work starts. The “paper and ink” design language replaces the first look.
