How does the daily grid work?
Every day a new grid opens at 00:00 UTC, and it's the same grid for every player. It has three rows and three columns. Rows are always clubs; a column is a club, a country, a position or an era.
Tap a cell and name a footballer who fits both its row and its column. You have nine guesses for nine cells, and each guess is final, right or wrong. A player can only be used once per grid.
Correct answers score points, and rarer answers score more. Difficulty goes from Easy to Legend, and the daily grid plays offline.
Why was my answer rejected, and how do I report it?
An answer is rejected when, according to our data, the player doesn't fit both categories, or when you've already used that player in another cell of the same grid.
Our career data is derived from Wikidata. It's good but not perfect: a short spell, a loan or a recent transfer can be missing.
If you're sure you were right, tap This should count on the red banner that appears after the rejection. The report sends us only the player and the two categories, so the dataset can be corrected in an update. You can see what you've reported under Settings → Support → Reported answers.
Reporting doesn't give the guess back. The button doesn't appear when the player was already used: that's a rule, not a data error.
How is a Live 1v1 match decided?
You and your opponent take turns claiming cells. Three in a row wins, and a wrong answer costs your turn.
A match can't drag on forever. If no cell is claimed in 6 turns in a row, the match ends: more cells wins, equal cells is a draw. The board counts the empty turns, so you can see it coming.
What happens if I close the app during a live match?
The match goes on without you. Nothing is paused and no time is added: the clock keeps running on our server. Open the app again and it takes you back by itself: you see Your match is still on and then the board as it stands. This works in Live 1v1, private rooms included, and in 3-2-1-!.
The usual rules apply while you are away. In Live 1v1, running out of time on two turns gives the match to your opponent, whatever the score. If the match ended before you came back, the app shows its result once: Your match ended while you were away. A match you chose to leave is not opened again.
One limit to know: a match that nobody has been watching for a while (a full turn past the deadline in Live 1v1, thirty seconds in 3-2-1-!) is closed, and the player who comes back to it takes the loss on time. A practice bot only plays while you are watching, so against a bot that player is you.
Am I playing against a bot?
Sometimes, and you'll always know. In Live 1v1, if no human opponent turns up within a few seconds, a practice bot takes the game so you're not left waiting. It is always labelled Practice bot on screen. A private room is the exception: no bot ever joins one.
A bot match never changes your rating, and winning it wins you nothing. It does count for a daily quest that asks you to play a match, because that reward is for playing, not for winning. Bots are never used in anything you pay for.
How do I play a friend with a room code?
On the Play tab, under Play with a friend, tap Create room. The app shows a six-character code: send it to your friend with Share the code or Copy code. Your friend taps Join in the same place and enters the code, and the Live 1v1 match starts.
It is a Friendly match: your rating doesn't change, and no practice bot ever joins a private room. The code lasts ten minutes. If nobody joins in time, open the room again for a new code.
What are the reactions in live matches?
In Live 1v1, private rooms included, and in 3-2-1-!, you and your opponent can send each other one of six preset emoji, during the match and for one minute after it ends. There is no chat and no text: those six are all there is, and you can send at most one every three seconds. In 3-2-1-! the bar is hidden while you type your answer.
A reaction goes to your opponent in that match and to nobody else, and it is not saved. To enforce the three-second limit our server keeps the time of your last reaction and nothing more; the Privacy Policy has the detail. Practice bots never send reactions, and you can't send one in a match against a bot.
Don't want them? Tap ⋯ at the end of the reaction bar and choose Mute opponent to hide that opponent's reactions for the rest of the match. It happens on your phone only, and they are not told. To switch reactions off altogether, turn off Settings → Game → Show reactions: you then neither see nor send them.
Do I need Game Center?
No. Game Center is Apple's service and it is optional: every mode, the in-game Leaderboard and your account work without it.
Game Center stays off in the game until you sign in to it there (from your profile or the friends table). After that, while you are signed in to Game Center on your iPhone, Grido XI posts your daily score, your rating and an achievement for each badge you earn to Game Center, and shows you how your Game Center friends are doing. Nothing about Game Center, not your player ID, your alias or your friends, is sent to our server. To stop it, sign out under Game Center in iPhone Settings.
How do daily quests and coins work?
Every day there are three Daily quests on the Play tab, the same for every player, and they change at 00:00 UTC. Finish one and tap Claim for its coins; finish all three and the Bonus chest opens.
A quest that asks you to play a live match counts the match whoever your opponent was, a practice bot included. Once a day you can swap an unfinished quest for another one.
Quests are not the only way to earn coins. They also come from the Daily reward, from each new level up to level 50 and from streak milestones at 7, 14, 30 and 100 days. A level or a streak milestone pays once per account, and our server pays it, so the coins arrive when you are online. You can also choose to watch a rewarded video, up to a daily limit: in the Store, when you are short of coins for a help, and after you claim the daily reward or open the Bonus chest. Coins are never sold.
How do I restore my purchases?
Go to Settings → Support → Restore purchases, signed in with the Apple Account you bought with.
Restoring brings back Pro and Remove ads. Pro has four benefits (Every past daily grid, No interstitial ads, Detailed statistics, Free hints in Unlimited); Remove ads takes away one thing, the full-screen ad that can appear when you leave a finished live match. Coins are not sold: you earn them in the game and they stay in your in-game balance, so there is nothing to restore for them.
Pro renews automatically until you cancel it in your App Store subscriptions (iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions). Payment and refunds are handled by Apple; we can't issue refunds ourselves.
How do I keep my progress when I change phones?
Sign in with Apple or Google. On the welcome screen, use the Apple button or Continue with Google. If you already play as a guest, open Settings → Account or the Profile tab and link your account there: your progress stays where it is. Either way nothing is typed and there is no password.
On the new phone, choose the same Apple or Google account on the welcome screen. Your account opens with your cards, level, badges, streak, coins and rating. A guest account that was never linked can't be moved: its key lives only on the old phone.
If you start as a guest on the new phone and link afterwards, the app finds your earlier account and asks which one to keep. The other one is deleted, so read the message before you choose. Purchases are separate: they belong to your Apple Account and come back with Settings → Support → Restore purchases.
How do I delete my data?
Go to Settings → Account → Delete account and confirm. Your account, profile and scores are removed from our server immediately and permanently.
Deleting also clears your cards, level, badges and streak on this device and takes you back to the welcome screen. No new account is created until you choose there how to play. Unspent coins are lost. Deleting does not cancel a Pro subscription: cancel that in your App Store settings (see the Terms of Use). To clear your progress but keep the account, use Settings → Reset progress instead.
If you signed in with Apple, deleting also asks Apple to revoke that sign-in, so that Grido XI is no longer connected to your Apple Account. If that request fails, the account is still deleted and Grido XI may stay listed in your Apple Account under "Sign in with Apple" until you remove it there (iPhone Settings → your name → Sign in with Apple). That entry holds nothing about the game.
The button needs a connection. If you can't use it, email us the account identifier from your export file (the "id" field under "account") and we'll delete the account for you. A nickname is not enough, because it is public.
How do I get a copy of my data?
Go to Settings → Account → Export my data. The app puts what our server holds about you (profile, daily scores, challenge results, live match records, reported answers, daily quest state and coin history) and everything it stores on this device into one JSON file, and shows you a summary first.
Nothing leaves your phone until you choose where to send or save the file. If you're offline, the server part is empty. A few things the app cannot read are not in the file, among them the answers behind your daily scores and the sign-in log; the file lists them. Write to us if you want them.
